Objective: The spontaneously hypertensive stroke prone rat (SHRSP) is a model of insulin resistance and dyslipidemia. Feeding a 60% fructose diet exaggerates these phenotypes. The Y chromosome may influence lipid levels in the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR).
